A few years ago I had this realization while writing an essay:
As children we have big dreams. We all want to be astronauts, race drivers, movie stars, famous singers, scientists, etc. For us (as children) those things are possible; after all, "dream big and you will get there."
For adults, our dreams are fanciful, and often our parents or certain situations end up convincing us of it. As we grow, our dreams become that: a FANTASY. We end up surrendering our dreams for the sake of being "realistic," but often that "reality" ultimately leads to unhappiness, dissatisfaction, resentment, and even a sense of failure.
Now, I ask you what would happen to this world if everyone would have given up their dreams? If someone’s fanciful or crazy ideas never became true, because they paid attention to other people opinions? Maybe we still would be stuck in the Stone age, right?
"All things are impossible while they seems" (Concepción Arenal).
Small minds always want to limit you, make you believe you're crazy, tell you that your dreams are impossible, and even make fun of you; but they do that just because they are not able to dream big, or they are afraid to. Afraid of loss, failure, getting hurt... but "How many things we lose for fear of losing" (Paulo Cohelo).
Only the brave take risks, think big, put on their combat boots or boxing gloves, get rid of the bad vibes, fix their eyes on God and fight for their dreams.
With faith everything is possible -- if you believe it you can do it!
When someone says to you, "You can’t do it," respond, "Watch how I do it."
The world belongs to the brave -- to those who dare. When you fall (because you will) get up, do it again and again. If at the end you lose, you will do it with the satisfaction of having at least tried. You will be already a step beyond those who don’t try at all, and that will give you the right to walk with your head held high.
My dream has always been to become a filmmaker and winning an Oscar. I still might be far from achieving it, but with hard work, dedication and perseverance, I believe one day I will walk down the Red Carpet. It is never too late to start dreaming, or fighting for your dreams. What are you waiting for?
"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."
If you walk with God, you are already on the right path.
So, what’s your dream?
