I read a quote once that has stuck in my mind ever since. "If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough." That's how I feel in this moment of my life; scared of these dreams, yet determined.
If you have experienced skydiving or bungie jumping before, you will understand this: when you are at the precipice about to jump, all kinds of negative thoughts come into your mind "Why did I decide to do this?," "I will die," [insert yours here].
Yet your body also fills with adrenaline and excitement because, at the end, you know you will be safe. You have a safeguard. A parachute that will ease the fall while you admire the landscape, or a bungie cord attached to your legs that will stop you from crashing against the ground.
That same feeling of safety comes from the Lord. If you trust that He will be with you while you chase your dreams, and if you fall He will be your safeguard, you will be determined to conquer what's yours.
Like the psalmist said in Psalms 31:14-15a "But I trust in you, Lord ; I say, “You are my God.” My future is in your hands." I'm in front that precipice now, scared of jumping but excited to see what the future holds for me. Excited because I know that the moment I jump, I will fly because God is the wind beneath my wings.
I will close with my favorite verse, the one that encourages me, the one that lifts my head when it’s downcast: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
